But what is a Neural Network? | Deep learning, chapter 1

Typo correction: At 14 minutes 45 seconds, the last index on the bias vector is n, when it's supposed to in fact be a k. Thanks for the sharp eyes that caught that!
For those who want to learn more, I highly recommend the book by Michael Nielsen introducing neural networks and deep learning: goo.gl/Zmczdy
There are two neat things about this book. First, it's available for free, so consider joining me in making a donation Nielsen's way if you get something out of it. And second, it's centered around walking through some code and data which you can download yourself, and which covers the same example that I introduce in this video. Yay for active learning! github.com/mnielsen/neural-networks-and-deep-learning
I also highly recommend Chris Olah's blog: colah.github.io/
For more videos, Welch Labs also has some great series on machine learning: youtu.be/i8D90DkCLhI youtu.be/bxe2T-V8XRs
For those of you looking to go *even* deeper, check out the text «Deep Learning» by Goodfellow, Bengio, and Courville.
Also, the publication Distill is just utterly beautiful: distill.pub/

2:42 — What are neurons?
3:35 — Introducing layers
5:31 — Why layers?

If you want to check it out, I feel compelled to warn you that it's not the most well-documented tool, and has many other quirks you might expect in a library someone wrote with only their own use in mind.

If you want to contribute translated subtitles or to help review those that have already been made by others and need approval, you can click the gear icon in the video and go to subtitles/cc, then «add subtitles/cc». I really appreciate those who do this, as it helps make the lessons accessible to more people.

Fast Charge ep. 37: iPhone 12 launch, OnePlus 8T review & a budget flagship face-off
We all know the big news this week: Apple has unveiled the iPhone 12 range, with a whopping four phones this time round. Meanwhile the OnePlus 8T has arrived too, and with the team also reviewing the Pixel 5 and Galaxy S20 FE, it got us thinking: which is the best budget flagship?
We're kicking this week off with the iPhone 12, which is joined by the 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max. All four phones include 5G, OLED, and a new design, though of course, the Pro models pack a few extra photography tricks in too.
The OnePlus 8T is a more conservative upgrade, but with 65W charging, 120Hz, and Android 11 it's still a decent step up from the 8 — and at £50/$50 cheaper it's pretty damn tempting.
And its price puts it right up against the Pixel 5 and Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. We've reviewed all three phones on the site this week, so it seemed only right to put the three phones head to head and crown the best budget flagship of 2020.

2:10 — iPhone 12 launch

Prior to LG's CES 2020 press conference this morning, the company had already revealed a slew of «Real 8K» televisions, and announced that the rollable 4K OLED TV we saw at last year's show will be ready to go on sale later this year. Both of those were present in its demo area, and looked impressive. 8K is sharp on LCD «NanoCell» screens, but the 8K OLED really popped, even if it was only playing demo content and hard to compare directly to what we've seen before from 4K OLED screens. Meanwhile, the rollable screen LG is planning on selling still only rolls one way, and won't have some of the features other new TVs have (like ATSC 3.0 compatibility to receive 4K via antenna) when it finally ships.
Of course, those aren't the only TVs that LG will put on the market in 2020, and now the company is ready to talk about more of the lineup.
