3D Printing Human Parts: The Future of Our Bodies

3D Printing Human Parts: The Future of Our Bodies

This video takes a look at the future of 3d printing when it comes to the human body.
Sci-fi movies and TV shows such as The Expanse or Westworld, feature machines and devices that can build an injured person back up. But a lot of this tech is being developed today.
Titanium is being used to replace body parts. And there are 3d bio printers that can 3d print human organs, human tissue, a skull, and much more — all using bioinks.
There are also 3d printed prosthetics. Ones that are infusing robotics with arms and legs. And there are 3d printed prosthetics that are being connected to the internet to make them smart and high tech with added features.
And a basic and DIY Neuralink brain to computer interface headset can be 3d printed and built at home.
Other topics covered include:
• A 3d printed cast that can stop muscles from getting weak while the bone is healing
• Augmented robotic arms, and human extensions
• A charity that lets people 3d print prosthetic arms for kids
• The different ways Titanium is being used to replace different body parts
• Examples of what bio-printers can print
• The different kinds of bio-inks and how they are made
• The first full body 3d printed human, and how it is being used for scientific research

The Future of Robots | The Future is Now

The Future of Robots | The Future is Now

#Robots come in many designs and perform tasks that range from surveillance and warehouse logistics to teaching and performing surgery. But recent advancements in robotics have allowed them to assume human functions and roles that we hardly thought possible. How about having a robot for a life partner? Or a tour guide? Or a TV presenter? Artificial intelligence is gradually giving robots the ability to learn and adapt – which means they’re becoming more like us. But is it a cause for joy or alarm?

Robot shark: GhostSwimmer drone developed by U.S. Navy looks and swims like a shark

Robot shark: GhostSwimmer drone developed by U.S. Navy looks and swims like a shark

The U.S. Navy has developed a new unmanned underwater vehicle that looks and swims like a shark.
The U.S. Navy’s new robot shark, called GhostSwimmer, is 5 feet long and weighs about 100 pounds, making it about the size of an albacore tuna, according to Wired. The robot uses its tail for propulsion. Because it looks and moves like a real fish, the GhostSwimmer is hard to spot and thus ideally suited for surveillance missions
The robot can operate in depths ranging from 10 inches to 300 feet. It can be controlled via a 500-foot-long tether and transmit video and data in real time. It can also be launched without a tether and transmit data when it surfaces after underwater missions, Gizmag reported.
The robot will be used for “surveillance, mine countermeasures, port security, and other defense and homeland security initiatives,” the U.S. Navy said in a statement according to the Register. The GhostSwimmer is part of the Silent NEMO project, which draws inspiration from objects in the natural world to make robotic designs.

Introducing Spot (previously SpotMini)

Introducing Spot (previously SpotMini)

Spot is a new smaller version of the Spot Classic robot, weighing 55 lbs dripping wet (65 lbs if you include its arm.) Spot is all-electric (no hydraulics) and runs for about 90 minutes on a charge, depending on what it is doing. Spot is one of the quietest robots we have ever built. It has a variety of sensors, including depth cameras, a solid state gyro (IMU) and proprioception sensors in the limbs. These sensors help with navigation and mobile manipulation. Spot performs some tasks autonomously, but often uses a human for high-level guidance. For more information about Spot visit our website at www.BostonDynamics.com

Atlas, The Next Generation

Atlas, The Next Generation

A new version of Atlas, designed to operate outdoors and inside buildings. It is specialized for mobile manipulation. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. It uses sensors in its body and legs to balance and LIDAR and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles, assess the terrain, help with navigation and manipulate objects. This version of Atlas is about 5' 9" tall (about a head shorter than the DRC Atlas) and weighs 180 lbs.
