Onondaga Lake Cleanup — Sevenson's Cutterhead Dredge



A look at the largest of the three Sevenson dredges being used in the cleanup of Onondaga Lake, NY. This particular cutterhead dredge has a 1,000 horsepower pump and is pumping approximately 55 gallons per minute at 25-30 RPM.
Running 6 days a week, 24 hours a day and under supervision of New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) the Sevenson dredging team will remove roughly 2 million cubic yards of material and is expected to complete dredging by the end of 2014 (1 year ahead of schedule).
