Crew Dragon‘s Second Demonstration Mission

Crew Dragon‘s Second Demonstration Mission

Crew Dragon’s test flight with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board the spacecraft marked the return of U.S. human spaceflight and the first-time in history a commercial company successfully transported NASA astronauts to the International Space Station and back home to Earth.

Watch SpaceX Launch 60 More Starlink Satellites!!!

SpaceX’s Starlink 13 mission will launch 60 Starlink satellites atop its Falcon 9 rocket. The Falcon 9 will lift off from Launch Complex 39a (LC-39a), from Kennedy Space Center, in Florida. Starlink 13 will mark the 14th Starlink mission, boosting the total number of Starlink satellites launched to 833.

NASA Artemis Lunar Lander Selection Surprises Many (In a good way)

NASA Artemis Lunar Lander Selection Surprises Many (In a good way)

Five contractors submitted proposals for the Artemis Human Landing system in November, and yesterday the final 3 were announced and give cash awards to work on their concepts before the final selection. The three winners were Blue Origin, Dynetics and SpaceX but many were surprised that not only did SpaceX propose using Starship, a vehicle vastly more ambitious than required, but, NASA included them as a finalist. This marks the first time NASA has put money directly torwards Starship development.
Most believe the other two options are the safe bets, but this give SpaceX another 10 months to show significant progress on Starship and SuperHeavy development. If all goes well it might very well be used to take NASA astronauts to the moon as part of Artemis.

Spacex Starship Fires Up Three Raptor Engines | Russian Satellite & Chinese Rocket Avoided Collision
SpaceX booms ahead!!! SpaceX Starship tested their three Raptor engines at full throttle. Starship Serial Number 8 (SN8) fired all three pre burners of Raptor engines on October 20th 1:21 a.m. This test was much bigger than the 19th October’s pre burner test. The thrust created by the Stainless Steel Prototype was massive. Starship SN8 a first kind of that prototype successfully completed and survived the first static fire test without any fail.

How does SpaceX’s Dragon get back to Earth from Orbit? How exactly it re-enters and lands!

How does SpaceX’s Dragon get back to Earth from Orbit? How exactly it re-enters and lands!

How do you actually get back from orbit? Do you just pump the brakes and fall right out of space? Well, there’s a lot of fun physics involved in deorbiting and today we’ll do a summary of how you deorbit, go over the hardware that allows the Crew Dragon Capsule to reenter and safely splash down, we’ll go over the sequence of events and even the exact conditions that need to be met in order to allow for a safe reentry.

The Amazing Engineering Behind Solid Rocket Boosters

The Amazing Engineering Behind Solid Rocket Boosters

The solid rocket motors on the space shuttle accounted for the majority of the launch mass and launch thrust. They're the most powerful rocket thrusters ever flown, at least until the 5 segment versions take flight with SLS in the next year or so.
I've often described solid rocket motors as being relatively simple compared to the complex plumbing, pumps and turbines of liquid rocket motors. However there's still a huge amount of critical engineering and science that goes into these boosters.
The design of the boosters were also partly responsible for the accident that destroyed Challenger during launch.

Abandoned Space Hardware: CANCELLED Part 1

Abandoned Space Hardware: CANCELLED Part 1

Part 2 here — youtu.be/P-yWHOgi6so
There’s nothing more exciting than a new rocket concept, a new mission to unknown worlds, or an exciting breakthrough technology. Unfortunately for every proposal there’s almost an equal amount of cancellations with only a small handful making it beyond the drawing board.
What’s even more frustrating is when these concepts leave paper, have thousands of engineering hours put in, hardware gets built, billions of dollars invested and THEN it gets put on the shelf.
In this new series called “cancelled”, we’re going to take a look at space programs and concepts that were so close to complete and sometimes even launched before it got cancelled.

Will New Glenn be the KING of Heavy Lift Rockets?

Will New Glenn be the KING of Heavy Lift Rockets?

Blue Origin, perhaps the sleeping giant of the aerospace industry, will be going from a tiny suborbital rocket, to one of the biggest rockets ever made…
Today, we’re finally going to do a quick rundown on Blue Origin, talk about their upcoming New Glenn rocket and then compare it to some of the other Heavy Lift Launchers it will be competing against.
