US Marines MASSIVE Experimental Amphibious Vehicle - Ultra Heavy-Lift Amphibious Connector

US Marines MASSIVE Experimental Amphibious Vehicle — Ultra Heavy-Lift Amphibious Connector

The Ultra Heavy-Lift Amphibious Connector (UHAC) begins to rotate on the beach, July 9, at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows on Oahu, Hawaii during a Marine Corps Advanced Warfighting Experiment. The AWE is the culmination of a decade of progressive experimentation conducted by the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL) where they are testing potential future technologies, solutions and concepts to future Marine Air Ground Task Force challenges. The AWE is taking part during the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2014. Lt. Col. Don Gordon, the current technology officer at MCWL, said the UHAC is one of those experimental technologies that displays a possible capability of being able to insert Marines in areas where current technology wouldn't be able to insert them based on current systems that are fielded. The UHAC prototype is a ship-to-shore connector and is half the size of the intended machine. Currently, the UHAC travels at four knots using a track system with floatation-like pads that propels itself through different terrain. Video by Master Sgt. Kyle Olson and Gunnery Sgt. Anti-Gravity Wheel?

Anti-Gravity Wheel?

Explanation of gyro precession: bit.ly/U4e8HQ
More: bit.ly/GyroMORE
Less Than: bit.ly/GyroLESS
Equal To: bit.ly/GyroEQUAL
Huge thanks to A/Prof Emeritus Rod Cross, Helen Georgiou for filming, Alex Yeung, and Chris Stewart, the University of Sydney Mechanical Engineering shop, Duncan and co. Ralph and the School of Physics.
In this video I attempt to lift a 19kg (42 lbs) wheel over my head one-handed while it's spinning at a few thousand RPM. This replicates an earlier experiment by Professor Eric Laithwaite. He claimed the wheel was 'light as a feather' and could not be explained by Newton's Laws. I wanted to find out for myself what I really felt like.

270HP Yamaha Crate Electric Motor

270HP Yamaha Crate Electric Motor

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced today it has begun accepting orders for a high-performance electric motor prototype that is capable of producing the industry-leading high power density for automobiles and other types of vehicles. The compact unit generates up to 200kW in output thanks to a high-efficiency segment conductor and advanced casting and processing technologies that Yamaha has cultivated over many years.
Yamaha will customize the prototype to the specific needs of individual customers and deliver in short time spans utilizing production technology that the company flexibly adapts to its various product groups, including motorcycles.
Going forward, Yamaha expects to deepen its knowledge of evolving market needs by adapting the motor to the requirements of individual customers.
This initiative is part of Yamaha Motor’s “Transforming Mobility” business strategy, which the company announced together with its long-term vision to 2030 under the banner of “ART for Human Possibilities” on December 11, 2018.

2017 new BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 Concept action promo video

2017 new BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 Concept action promo video
The BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 stands for the ultimate riding experience. Liberated from the need to wear a helmet and protective clothing, the rider is able to enjoy the forces. Acceleration, wind and nature as in touch with the surrounding world, savouring every moment. The design of the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 represents the essence of the motorcycle: the perfect synthesis between human and machine.
The BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 is the essence of motorcycling and a symbol of the ultimate riding experience of the future.
Self-balancing.
In certain situations, the active assistance systems of the future will also enhance stability and safety by automatically balancing the motorcycle, both out on the road and when stationary.
Flexframe.
The Flexframe appears as a single, integrated whole that extends from the front to the rear wheel. Being flexible, it allows the bike to be steered without the various joints found on today’s motorcycles. Turning the handlebar adjusts the entire frame, changing the direction of the bike.
Visor.
The right information at the right time. The visor essentially consists of a pair of data glasses that extends across the wearer’s entire field of vision. As well as providing wind protection, it shows relevant data.
Digital Companion.
When combined, the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 bike and the special rider’s gear that has been designed to accompany it form a single functional unit: a Digital Companion that provides the situational information and active support the rider needs. But because biking is essentially about the experience, the Digital Companion remains in the background.

NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover Sample Caching System

NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover Sample Caching System

Watch as NASA-JPL engineers test the Sample Caching System on the Perseverance Mars rover. Described as one of the most complex robotic systems ever built, the Sample and Caching System will collect core samples from the rocky surface of Mars, seal them in tubes and leave them for a future mission to retrieve and bring back to Earth.
The team is on track to launch Perseverance in July 2020 and land in Mars’ Jezero Crater in February 2021. For more information on the Mars 2020 Perseverance mission, please go to:
